Taylor March that is. Seems as if he has gone 119 this year, NoLies. I sort of expected a bigger jump in weight but what do I know?
Is he killing them so far? I need updates.

12-0, I think Beat Derek Nelson 12-2 and had him pinned, Nelson placed 7th at 103 2 years ago and was a qualifier last year and beat Taylor in the NHC finals last year
Also beat Travis Smoker 11-0, Smoker was a SQ two years ago at 103
He probably could have gone 125 if he wanted, but he kept his weight in the low 130's during football. From talking to his dad, the cut wasn't that hard and once he got it down its stayed down.
Talking to one of his football coaches and friends of mine he said Taylor is ultra competitive in EVERYTHING! He played special teams for the varsity and played defense almost non stop and some offense on the JV teams this fall.
Send me your email address, there was an article on him in the newspaper that was pretty good, I'll send it to you.

Was it the article in Journal Gazette? My brother tore one out a few ago and set it aside. I read it while in Indiana this weekend but it didn't really have any of the nitty gritty stuff in it.
Any chance he will let the football fall by the wayside if he kills them at states this year? The lighter you are the harder they hit! Sounds like he has his head on straight as far as weight management.

Yes it was the one in the Journal Gazette.
I doubt he'll stop playing football anytime soon. He'll end up being 135-140 probably by the time he's a senior. He likes football a lot and its good to do some "cross training" and not get burnt out on wrestling.

I would agree. The only downside is possible injury. Besides, there really aren't any tourneys or anything going on that time of year.

Did he take in any national tourneys this off season?

Indiana does participate in the "Border Wars" series during the fall. Its some fall wrestling, but the best wrestlers rarely are wrestling in it.
He didn't really want to go to Fargo this summer because it conflicted with football two-a-days. Father wasn't upset since he learned it was over a thousand bucks to go!
The risk of injury is minor in my opinion. A kid can get hurt slipping on ice in the driveway or any other stupid ways. I say let a kid be a kid and play football and have fun while being in high school. Just my opinion though and it doesn't hold weight most of the time, even though 15 of 17 kids on the team I coach played football this year.

I prefer cross country as an alternative.
Although it seems that most high school kids would rather play football than run.
Wasn't Nickerson a pretty good xc running in NY?

I would rather see them playing football because of the lifting aspect. Most cross country teams do not lift weights. But either way, playing another sport is good for the kids as they need the cross training.

I don't know as much as these other section iv local yocals. But I think TN only qualified for states in cross country. Which is better than most, but not what he was made to do in life.
March should try to head onto a national tourney or two next year if he can scratch up some dough. 2nd place as a fresh at states isn't an aberration in Indiana's single class system. He could get a free ride at a big school with that ability.

I think he'll look to head out to Fargo this year. He is a second year cadet this year so he'll probably do better than he would have last year. His family isn't poor(not rich either) and they would have ponied up the money if he wanted to go last year, but like most any family, his mom and dad didn't push the issue especially after they heard about the price tag. He did do the NWCA HS Duals last year and went 6-2. Here are the results www.wrestlingrankings.net/Teams/hs_news?news_id=68 . The overtime loss was a horrible call as I guess they gave the kid an escape even though Taylor was in on a single leg.

Oh, sorry, he won it 7-4.
Got a reversal and two back points with about 45 seconds left to win.

I did see the article. I managed to pull it up on the blackberry while travelling this weekend. How in the heck was he ranked below this Weijnowis or whatever the heck his name is? He did lose to him in michi last year but upended him at states at the end of the season.
