this opportunity existed in the 80s though. people studied film in the 80s. there was still more action and scoring then there is today.

quick,
I left Russia in 1990 and a VCR was still a privilege for the few at that time. Certainly my wrestling club in Russia did not have a VCR and I imagine most poorer countries didn’t.
However, I agree that having a 15 point tech with 6 or more minutes in a match allows for more leeway in attempts to score and make mistakes than 6 points and you lose a period type of a rule.

I really enjoyed the commentators of the Smith v. Alexeev match. Who were they? I always thought that a match would be much more enjoyable for the fans to watch if the commentators actually knew what the wrestlers were doing and explained it along the way.
Imagine if an ESPN commentator could break down the technique and explain the intricacies of a move to fans. It would create greater understanding of what is going on, giving fans more appreciation for what these guys are actually doing! It is mind boggling when you hear a world class wrestler explain what really goes in to making a move work.
Another THANK YOU to quicksingle for pushing my nights sleep back a few hours! All day I dream about this time of night, to wind down and watch the new matches.

Quick, I don't think it was Strobel. I'm willing to bet that it was Russ Helickson who used to do the commentary during the Olympics when Wrestling was featured back then.
Quick, These video's have made me a very happy camper! I can't thank you enough for your effort to upload them on to Youtube.
