Who is the guy that has to follow the Konrad act? I heard Big has a year of eligibilty left. Of couse he has to get clearance from his probation officer. Also, Big will not be allowed to compete in the same gym with Cornell. The restraining order will not be lifted until 2010, when Troy graduates.

either Nord or Berhow. Fairly big boys that did pretty well their RS year. Supposedly Nord is about 6;5" and about 240 now.

His name is Nord? How perfectly Minnesota. They already have enough wrestlers who look like they fell off of a Viking boat!

I had the pleasure of interviewing both Joe Nord and Ben Berhow for an article I wrote about the "next generation" of Minnesota heavyweights. It's in Rev Gold, which is the premium subscription service at RevWrestling.com revwrestling.com/articles/1979/The-next-generation-of-Minnesota-heavyweightsYes, Joe is the son of Nord the Barbarian, a one-time professional wrestler. Both Nord and Berhow are considerably lighter than Cole Konrad -- around 230 or 240 right now. Both were Minnesota HS state champs -- Berhow as heavyweight for Albert Lea HS, Joe at 215 for Waconia. (They never wrestled each other in HS.) Both played football in HS but chose wrestling as their college sport. And... even though they are vying for the same job -- successor to King Cole -- they have become great friends. Whoever gets the starting job as Minnesota's heavyweight, the program will continue its legacy of successful big men. In fact, only Oklahoma State can claim more NCAA heavyweight champs than Minnesota which has four: Cole Konrad 2006/2007... Brock Lesnar 2000... Verne Gagne 1949... and Leonard Levy in 1941. Mark

Think about the big-time talent the Gophers have had the past dozen or so years at heavyweight: King Cole, Garrett Lowney, Brock Lesnar, Sheldon Benjamin, Billy Pierce... Mark

Nord's dad was known as THE BEZERKER Swayz, Is it possible that John Nord -- father of possible Minnesota heavyweight-in-waiting Joe -- had more than one ID as a pro rassler? My book "Grappling Greats" about Minnesota amateur wrestling and pro rasslin IDs him as Nord the Barbarian. Hence, how I identified him in my story, and here. My knowledge of the pro game would fit on the head of pin... and what I have relates to the old-timers who were once college stars, like Verne Gagne, Brad Rheingans, Bob Backlund (speaking of Minnesota), Dick Hutton, Bob Geigel, Jack Brisco... Doesn't anyone have a Minny media guide? From my SID days, we definitely would have included info like that, even for a RS.
