99% of 15 and over can read and write in the U.S. per the official gov't source linked below. I think you need to examine your source, Satiev. Dobbs is obviously on a mission to make people angry and afraid (and how do you feel about that?). To do so, he's obviously gonna play fast and loose with stats, facts, etc. www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/print/us.html

Again. just because you can read and write does not mean you're not functionally illiterate. People can read and write POORLY.

Go away...you've been discredited. You clearly were intimating that 40 million Americans couldn't read or write with your first post, and now since that doesn't work anymore you're grasping at straws to try and salvage your pathetic attempt at a point. Let it go.

Not to "grasp at straws" but Dobbs said there was a survey and it was estimated about 40 million Americans did not know English well enough to be able to read things like a bus map. That is more pathetic than being illiterate. You can read but not good enough to understand a bus map. That is just plain stupid. At least when you can't read AT ALL you have an excuse.

Imagine these people are legal voters that can elect a President even though they can't understand a freaken bus map. Hello Democracy!

I agree that stupid people don't add anything to the value of our voting system. But, it's possible that there are equal numbers of stupid people on both sides, so maybe it evens itself out.
I haven't ridden a bus in over 20 years, and I wonder how long it would take me to figure out a bus map. You city folk probably have a pretty good grasp of it though.

Stupid, illiterate, and not proficient in Enflish are three separate things.

Stupid, illiterate, and not proficient in Enflish are three separate things. Spelling is another separate thing. Just kidding.
