For the most part, America respects diversity because of:
1. Residual guilt (typically"white guilt") over "wrongs" that were brought upon certain sectors of society in the past. If Native Americans (for example) were killed a few hundred years ago, then they certainly deserve to build casinos anywhere they wish, and they also deserve a greater proportion of federal contracts than almost anyone else in the U.S. Only makes sense, right? 2. The belief that social justice is achievable. Forget about "equal opportunity". Most of the race-counters in the US now are really concerned with "equal results". If a broad pastiche of colors and races aren't apparent in every social strata, then something must be done to correct the injustice. If you don't see a rainbow of colors when you look around your office, neighborhood, or circle of friends, that's clear evidence of racism, and something must be done.
Sorry for the threadjack. The concept of diversity for the sake of diversity is bereft of thought.

Flop,
Bulding casinos and having racial diversity in offices goes only up to a certain level, where diversity is shown and economy can benefit from it.
Check any major American corporation and most influential American positions. No racial diversity is even existent there.

Einstein was a jewish immigrant who was paid to come here. He sold his country out. This is what it means to acquire people with skills that Americans don't have. Einstein is just one example though. The U.S. government paid the world's top scientists lots of money to come and work for them. They continue to do so. This is why America is one of the world's leading countries in technology. Do you find: 1. U.S. at fault 2. Einstein at fault 3. Einstein's former country at fault 4. Some combination of the above 5. No one is at fault I'm pretty sure that #1 will be included in your answer, as it usually is your answer to most things. I'm going with #5. Einstein went where he would have the most opportunity to do the work he wanted to do. I find no one at fault. I was just stating the truth.

When you said that Einstein "sold his country out", I took that to mean he did a bad thing somehow.

The only bad thing on this thread is America forgetting to reward immigrants on ALL levels even though America would not be America without diversity.
What I am saying is Evangelical Christians and such having plans that are egotistical and serve only their interests while people suffer.

Evangelical Christians rely on their mighty military to bring them to Jesus and such while forgetting that diverse opinions are different from their intentions and DIVERSITY gave them those weapons and other technology.
A clear minority of people, talented foreign scientists, contributed to developing American technology but Evangelicals hijack the country for their own needs.

The fundamentalist Christians are not a threat to this country. In general, they tend to mind their own business. The evangelicals on the other hand want to shove Christianity down people's throats and mix religion with politics and our legal system. They have tons of money and use it as a lobbying power. They make other Christians look bad because people like you (no offense intended) want to lump all Christians together.
I can also tell you that most "fundamentalist" Christians do not support Bush and realize that both major political parties are corrupt. They realize that he is a fraud and merely uses Christianity as a political tool. Evangelicals on the other hand are more likely to be brainwashed by their pastors. Sometimes it seems like the people who attend these churches are like sheep being led to the slaughter. Instead of reading the Bible themselves, they just go by whatever their pastor tells them, even if it isn't biblical. A lot of times, what is taught is contrary to biblical teachings, because the big churches have money on their mind. Some will say whatever it takes to get more of it or get more people into the church. It is called outcome based religion.
