Even if Gore is a little bit hypocrtical, he still does more for the cause than any other wealthy person or politican. Look at our president, he talks about giving better living standards to the poor, but the guy lives in a ranch the size of a city. Gore shouldn't raise awareness because we already know of the problem? Gore's status as a former poltician brings the problem to the table and helps us solve it. If the politicans don't confront the problem then who will? Oh and yes we know about the cause, but when politicans turn down laws to enact them, then we are turning away from the problem.

It wouldn't hurt Gore to ride a bicycle. How do you know he doesn't? For all you know he rides a unicycle while juggling and singing I'm a little teapot.

As usual, the Gore apologists are making no coherent arguments.
Satiev says that rich people and politicians belong to a different class of humans, so they can do what they want, and we should just get off of their backs.
Vegeta says that Gore does more good than bad, so being hypocritical isn't such a bad thing. He then states that Bush has a big ranch, so he is somehow a hypocrite for wanting to help poor people. I fail to see the logic of that statement - should he sell his ranch and buy food for the poor with the proceeds?

House 1:
The four-bedroom home was planned so that "every room has a relationship with something in the landscape that's different from the room next door. Each of the rooms feels like a slightly different place." The resulting single-story house is a paragon of environmental planning.
The passive-solar house is built of honey-colored native limestone and positioned to absorb winter sunlight, warming the interior walkways and walls of the 4,000-square-foot residence. Geothermal heat pumps circulate water through pipes buried 300 feet deep in the ground. These waters pass through a heat exchange system that keeps the home warm in winter and cool in summer. A 25,000-gallon underground cistern collects rainwater gathered from roof urns; wastewater from sinks, toilets, and showers cascades into underground purifying tanks and is also funneled into the cistern. The water from the cistern is then used to irrigate the landscaping around the four-bedroom home, (which) uses indigenous grasses, shrubs, and flowers to complete the exterior treatment of the home. In addition to its minimal environmental impact, the look and layout of the house reflect one of the paramount priorities: relaxation. A spacious 10-foot porch wraps completely around the residence and beckons the family outdoors. With few hallways to speak of, family and guests make their way from room to room either directly or by way of the porch. "The house doesn't hold you in. Where the porch ends there is grass. There is no step-up at all." This house consumes 25% of the energy of an average American home. (Source: Cowboys and Indians Magazine, Oct. 2002 and Chicago Tribune April 2001.)
House 2:
This 20-room, 8-bathroom house consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year. The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, this house devoured nearly 221,000 kWh, more than 20 times the national average. Last August alone, the house burned through 22,619 kWh, guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of this energy consumption, the average monthly electric bill topped $1,359. Also, natural gas bills for this house and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year. In total, this house had nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for 2006. (Source: just about anywhere in the news last month online and on talk radio, but barely on TV.)
House 1 belongs to George and Laura Bush, and is in Crawford, Texas.
House 2 belongs to Al and Tipper Gore, and is in Nashville, Tennessee.

So basically Gore haters believe that if you preach the dangers of Global Warming and if you're a poweful figure like Gore, you have to live in a small house and ride the plane with poor people because otherwise you're a hypocrite. On top of that, you need to relinquish all the luxury that you've earned. But, if you refuse to pass laws and take the issue seriously like all other politicans, then you get a free pass.

"if you preach the dangers of Global Warming"
Yes, he has been preaching to us uneducated rubes for some time now. Apparently the only thing that exceeds his arrogance is his hypocrisy. Or his appetite.

Gore is a nice strawman. Funny how easy people fall for this and line up to castigate him for___, for what? For having a fancy house? The real issue is global warming and what are we (as a society) going to do about it, not Gore's house. He would be a hypocrite if he told you not to drive a car or stop smoking while he continued to do so. But he's not talking about individual behavior. He's talking about the big picture--telling us global warming is an issue, in the same way Nader told us car safety was an issue. It doesn't matter a whit whether his house is an energy saver or not--except to the low brow crowd, who seem to understand only their distaste for others--while bigger matters fly, whoosh, right overhead.

So if you are a Democrat and filthy-rich you have earned it. If you are a Republican and filthy-rich you are a greedy capitalist pig. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the mind of a hypocritical liberal. Talking directly out of both sides of their mouth.

But he's not talking about individual behavior. You need to read a newspaper or watch the television set. This is exactly what he is doing. Stop reinventing the facts to better frame your agenda.

What you really mean is, if I want to stoop to your level, I should listen to talk radio to get "the facts".

and yours is from the NYTimes, CNN, LATimes, MoveOn.Org, Bill Maher...
So, Matclone, what is your point? Where we get information is inherently 'stupid' whereas the sources liberals get there info is just and enlightened.
And you wonder why liberals are labeled as snooty elitest. You are incapable of registering the irony.
That is the conundrum of liberal bias. They truly don't recognize it. Matclone is a shining example.
Discuss.

So you attribute ideas to me that aren't mine, make up things you don't know about (my sources), misdirect the conversation from any point anyone made (or pretend to misunderstand), and throw in a few insults while you're at it. That is wholly consistent with your troll behavior, Troll. How many forums have you attempted to fuck up today?
