If I read between the lines, cause the writer sure doesn't help--he could be part of Direct TV's PR dept for all I can tell--it sounds like Direct TV is making a deal whereby they would have exclusive rights to broadcast certain baseball games (to what extent I can't tell). Can anyone make heads or tails of this or know more about this issue? sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-baseball-tv&prov=ap&type=lgns

Well, that's the same article. They keep mentioning the "Extra Innings" package, as if we're supposed to know what that is. I don't.

sorry matclone, I should have included this link as well: mlb.aolsportsblog.com/2007/03/09/mlbs-extra-innings-deal-isnt-exclusive-to-directtv-yet/Extra Innings is a package offered by MLB that includes non "market" games. So if you live in Mesa AZ for example and you're a Tiger fan, you can see Tiger games that you wouldn't normally get in Mesa. It had been offered through cable and I believe Dish Network in the past, but MLB now wants to make it exclusive. Hope this helps

Thanks. That does help. I was afraid they were going to put all games (except the local team) on satellite TV, but, for now, it appears, we're talking about the satellite networks competing for a specific product (i.e., all the games). Hopefully, the local, ESPN, TBS, and other cable network games will continue so the average fan won't have to dish out more (no pun intended) to watch some games on TV.
