Man brings pot to probation meeting By Viv Rosswurm
AUBURN — A Waterloo man will serve a year in jail after he was caught carrying a bag of marijuana during a meeting with his probation officer.
Steve Allen Wolfe, 44, of the 300 block of South Franklin Street, Waterloo, was on probation for a battery offense and had a scheduled appointment with DeKalb County probation officer Mark Pomeroy in the summer of 2006.
Pomeroy said it is standard practice to ask a client to take a drug test and to empty his or her pockets.
When Wolfe emptied his pockets and placed the contents on Pomeroy’s desk, the officer said he could not help noticing a bag of marijuana among Wolfe’s belongings. He called the Auburn Police Department, and Wolfe was arrested.
Wolfe was sentenced Friday in DeKalb Superior Court I to serve 180 days in jail for the probation violation and 180 days for possession of marijuana with a prior offense, a Class D felony. Judge Kevin Wallace ordered Wolfe to serve the sentences one after the other.
