Saw the thread on TheMat, glad to see Murphy get his release. He's taken nothing from VT so whether they agreed to release him, or it was the NCAA stepping in (haven't read the link yet don't know if this was answered) I think the right thing was done.
What are the chances of him starting as a true frosh and at what weight?

I think he has a good shot at starting. I think his intent is to RS. We'll see if Falck is back 100%. I think Falck showed promise. IMO Falck is the guy at 125 but anything could happen. That's why they have wrestle offs. IMO 133 is more questionable than 125. Don't know if Murphy could move up and challenge their ....maybe.

Murphys a 125 lber. And In my opinion I could see him not redshirting as a freshman. He's going to be a good one for the Hawks!

Murphy is free to attend the school of his choice because of a LOI technicality, not because of the NCAA or VT doing the right thing. His coach signed the letter instead of his legal guardian. The kid lucked out because some adult screwed-up. I work in academia and it is becoming very clear that college atheletics is BIG business and the student athelete is just a pawn.

Brands seems to be the perfect coach for Murphy. Watching Murphy's style reminds you alot of the Brands bros. I imagine he probably could be the starting 125 this coming season. I think that his height could be an issue if he is wrestling 133.
