This coming Monday, July 17th is the 10 year anniversary of the TWA Flight800 explosion off of Long island. The official finding was an accidental spark caused by a short in or around the center fuel tank, yet more than 100 witnesses on the ground reported seeing a flash of light rising up to the aircraft moments before the explosion was seen. This obviously implies a missle of some sort. The official findings discount this possibility I assume b/c of a lack of physical evidence.
I just finished Nelson Demille's book "Night Fall" - a novel and looked up some of the suggestions in the book to try and figure out which parts were fact and which were fiction. I must say I have doubts about the official version.
Any thoughts? In any event, demille's book was a pretty good read.

I just can't believe that it's been 10 years. I just remember watching the footage of the remains of the plane floating in the Atlantic.

Is it mainly the eyewitnesses that have convinced you, or is the physical evidence amiss also?

THe number of eyewitnesses is compelling. The lack of physical evidence is bothersome but doesn't eliminate the possibility. They supposedly were not able to recreate the short circuit explosion on land tests. I am not convinced it was a crime, but I'm not convinced it was not either. If that many people saw something that hasn't been explained satisfactorily......
I have trouble with what the motivation would be for such a coverup if it was a coverup
Did you follow the story?

My dad recently finished the book called First Strike: TWA Flight 800 and the Attack on America and talked to me quite about it. While he doesn't agree with all the conclusions the author reaches, he seems to think we don't have the whole story and that something is being covered up.
From what I understand, much of the information is still classified, which helps fuel conspiracy theories.
Personally, I think if you have to decide between a government conspiracy and government incompetence, go with incompetence almost every single time.
