Some friends and i were talking about that the other night. Do you think in the future man will be able to get under 9 seconds in the 100 meters? That is a hard one cause it is such a short race. And we have already seen guys on steroids not be able to even come close. The difference between 9.8 and 9.0 is huge. I think the record now is 9.76 or something. I think we have a chance to really lower the longer distances races in the next 100 years but how low do you think the 100 meters will get lowered by the year 2106? Even with nutrition and drugs im not sure the 2 legged human can get a whole lot faster in a sprint than right now. Some, but under 9 seconds im not sure.

in 1936 the WR for the 100 was 10.3. In 70 years it has been lowered 0.5 seconds. I am guessing that it will take more than 100 years to drop below 9.0 if it is possible at all.
