Oh man. I am all about steamrooms/saunas. But today I went to the 10th Street Russian and Turkish baths and it was awesome. I don't know what took so long for me to go there other than being utterly afraid the place might be gay. Not only was the place really great and refreshing but there were tons of fine looking ladies using the place as well. I am a lifer now.

I love the steamroom but I can't deal with the sauna's dry heat. If you take a nice steam after a workout there are few things as relaxing.

Have you ever been to the sauna on the 3rd floor of the NYAC? The one that is 2 rooms and about 400 square feet? That thing is bigger than my apartment and has lawn furniture as well as a window that overlooks central park. If it weren't 185 degrees, I would move in there.

I used to go to a Russian bath (banya) in Brooklyn but never in Manhattan.
I have been to the NYAC sauna on 5th floor only.

I have not done the nyac thingy. Are they coed? This is a close second to facilities in list of priorties of what I look for.
Touch with your eyes not with your hands. ;D

THe 3rd floor facilities are in the aquatics area so you have to go in by the pool deck. There is a steam room, hot tubs, and this ginormous 2 room sauna. They are co-ed but usually every time I have gone in there I have only seen old men (with the exception of the day of weigh-ins for the NYAC tourney).

I take a shvitz once, maybe twice a day, but I tend to like to do it in private... Sorry guys, I just couldn't help myself.
