Did anyone get an official word from the mat.com as to why they banned the various posters?

I think some people did, and some didn't. I got banned and sent several people e-mails and never heard a peep.

I don't understand their tactics either. They said no personal attacks. I almost never attacked anyone personally. They never said one can get banned for unpopular political views.
No good explanation either!
By the way, nice to see you on here phillywrestler!

I got no word at all. I was just banned. I sent several emails and was never answered. A day later, my brother was banned. Neither of us ever used vulgarity, and I hardly, he never, attacked anyone personally. I attacked VTech personally, so maybe that was the reason. I do know that Usa wrestling will never get a penny from me again as long as I am treated like that. Which is sad, because I would think our sport could use all the help it could get. Not smart to treat true fans like this.

My gut reaction is that the moderators favored certain political prespectives. They never banned a lot of the very rude politically conservative posters.
They seem to have strong feelings about the VT / Iowa situation as well.

Lets see...I started a thread where I said that I "preferred the era of last week with the trolls and tribute aliases over the current one of moderator overzealousness" referred to the actions of the moderators as "comical", laughed when someone said that Craig Sesker had gotten the best job in headshuck's best job thread, and then I did something else that slipped my mind, but I still think it was minor.

Actually, that reminds me, I said if anyone attacks me again Mr. Craig Sesker will take care of them on Craig Sesker's thread. Then, I started a thread saying becareful what you wish for in response to some posters wanting more moderation.
Can that be it?

I remember your "Be careful what you wish for thread" IIRC it was deleted very quickly. I don't think my thread about wishing for the trolls and tribute aliases back lasted more than 5 minutes.

For those of you who have been banned from TheMat -- or weren't banned, but are angered about those who were, along with all the posts/threads that were deleted -- all without any explanation...
... or apology...
You've taken a great step by joining this new forum.
Now... is there more than can be done?
I refuse to participate in TheMat forums anymore.
Nor can I support the organization that supports the shabby treatment of long-time participants and contributors.
Is there more that can be done? Mark

The decreased traffic to that site will hurt them in the long run. Not today, but during the season they will feel it when the advertisers aren't getting the traffic they used to get.
The worst thing is when they "upgraded" the forum, they actually downgraded it and made it worse. I hope none of you put in any real info such as your real address or phone number because I'm fairly certain that site could be easily hacked.

Actually I am still posting over there (and will on the womens forum for obvious reasons) if for no other reason than to promote this board for awhile. I'll taper off over there though as this board takes off (and given Big, the arachnid, and I, are here that is a lot of posts). This is my preferred board now. As to where to go from here. For now; make sure there are lots of threads started. Keep promoting it. And make sure there is bandwidth to handle the traffic with the only burps coming during the obvious times..... NCAA Nationals, and other big events.

I agree totally with you ideamark. I thought about starting a new name, but I have no interest in even dealing with that site. While I know my 500 posts I had are nothing compared to big, jensen, gallan, or some others, they meant something to me. They were proof of a lot of hard fought battles against jbresette and crew. They were proof that the VTech situation meant something to me. I would have only gone back here if I had nowhere to go, now that I do, I'm here.

I got banned after I called Craig. He said something like, "call next week and we'll see if you can come back on." I didn't think anything about it until I got home and I was banned!!! I was civil during the conversation and even offered a few suggestions such as more moderators and locking a topic at the top with what is expected(the software can't do that I learned).
I emailed everyone there and said I will not support USAW if this is how they run things. Gary Abbott emailed me back pretty quickly stating he will get things figured out this week, but was going to be on vacation for a few days.

I wonder if you'll hear back from Gary Abbott... and, if so, what he'll say to you. He may come back from vacation wondering what the heck happened in his absence! I also wonder if things will ever get back to "normal" at TheMat... or if too much damage has been done, damage that can't be easily repaired with a simple "You're no longer banned." This whole scandal may be USA Wrestling's equivalent of New Coke or the Edsel -- a Mocco-sized mistake that may take months or years to recover. Mark

Nomorelies,
Are you involved in USA wrestling? How do you know these people?
