Its been a really good time, only two games left, as much as I hate to say it I may be close to becoming a fan of the "other" football. Who do you guys like as a top 3? Mine...
1. Italy...2-1 over France 2. France 3. Germany...1-1 wins it on penalties, although I'd feel better about this pick had Klinnesman stuck with Lehman.
And if any of you say you weren't hoping for a France v. Germany final and the hilarity that was guarenteed to ensue, well Ima call you you a liar.

I am almost as excited for Germany and Brasil. I hope they bring their 'A' games because it was my expected final and a fun match-up.
As far as the final..... I have come to just love the style, the conjoles, and the heart of the French (who could imagine saying all of that about a French team). I think Italy will win. I want and will root for France. I think that is a team that could even change the racist elitist personna of that culture a little, given the racial make-up of the team.

Honestly I'm just hoping for a good game, I have trouble rooting for the Ities because of all the flopping, and I won't root for the frogs on principle. I think Italy could be in for a possible Kesseling, Zidane retiring as a champion is an enticing storyline.

No matter, either way as I am jazzed. I have not missed a world cup final since 1974 (early in the morning in Nippon - age 14). I think the reason Argentina, Brasil, and Europe, dominate in this game is because they care in a way that transcends wanting to win. It is... after so many generations..... part of their collective soul.
The USA with their Soccer moms doesn't hold up. Africa with their athleticism is just a sport. Even Mexico, that loves the sport, doesn't seem to have the passion. It is sport, but not life. Those countries that make it to the finals, and win, year in and year out, are as crazy about that sport in their day-to day lives as we are about wrestling.
