JensenS, Do you think that the smite/exalt/karma feature could be tweaked in some way to prevent the type of situation which has resulted in Mike Furches leaving us (only for now, I hope)? I realize that it is not a big deal and easily ignored, but I hate to see it affect the forum like it has here. On our Connecticut wrestlng forum, you can rate a particular post from 1 to 5, but the rating only applies to that post. If that can be done here, I think it would be an improvement, as the current system encourages snipers and isn't always a true measure of a poster's popularity or lack thereof. When my karma goes up or down, I really have no understanding of why unless the person tells me. If the praise or criticism were applied to a particular post, I'd have some valuable feedback. Maybe we could have a poll about whether to keep the system as it is, change it, or eliminate it. Just a thought. Keep up the good work and thanks again for providing us with this forum .

It was fun for awhile, but if people are going to be cruel about it then I think the feature should just go away

Personally I think it has some benefit suppressing temperament around here. I know I slammed a smite now and then for ignorant comments, then keeping my fingers off the board.

I love equations:
suppressing temperament = conformity= robots

Ok...it is tweaked already...you can only give like one smite/bad karma per hour I believe from what a few others were telling me.
Maybe if you give a smite you have the right to know who is smiting you, and they have to smite and post reason why.
Exalts may be kept annonymous since nobody cares if they get praised.

Just keep it the way it is. I agree with wrestlersweazy that nobody cause if they get praised........but nobody shoud care if they get smited either.
Nobody should care if folks agree or disagree with them as long as they are posting honestly.
But to put in perspective as one who has been there.............in politics, a 60-40 vote is considered a "landslide"........yet.......even when getting over 60%of the vote, what one is concerned with is 'what did I do to piss off 40%?)
Furches, quit being overly emotional and get your ass back her where we love you.

For some reason I think some know more than they lead on. I know some people are not very honest when it comes to comments on forums, if not here then certainly other forums. Truth be told, apologies are a dime a dozen when caught in the act. I also know there are sock puppets which allows for more than one smite an hour. It appears as if this is what was done. Use ip's as opposed to email accounts, and have a feature that allows one to see who smited them. From what I have read, there is certainly something fishy if indeed over 60 smites were given in less than a week. Some fishy wrestlers have fishy methods. It is easy to see who is on the board at certain times and this board has not been active enough from my observation that the person giving the smites, if during the times suggested in an earlier thread, could not be figured out fairly easily. It is easy to pass blame, it is a man or woman who can take responsibility, that don't need to be done in a public way, but it needs to be done.

I doubt he will come back if that is the case and he took the trouble to remove himself from the board. It is a shame, he was one person many of us actually liked and had some integrity. I also think that instead of blaming furches, it is time we threw a little blame at the person(s) who was either serious or saw this as a joke.

"I also know there are sock puppets which allows for more than one smite an hour."
Interesting, I always wondered how Big went from like -30 Karma to +40 in under 48 hours.
Mike went from like +30 to -30 in about 72 hours.

Why did furches leave? Somebody was smiting him? Crazy stuff. I for one don't want to lose members because somebody is smite happy. I was wondering why furches hadn't been posting. I thought he was on vacation or something. Has anyone talked to him?
