So, any opinions on the Vernon Forrest vs Ike Quartey fight this Saturday? I think Forrest is way too slick for Quartey. Quartey usually looks really good against guys that can't move around much, because he has can take a punch, and he has a little power. As long as Forrest's arm isn't hurt too bad, he walks away with a unanimous decision.
The undercard of Ouma vs Powell ought to be entertaining as well.
Showtime also has two fights on Saturday, with both of the Marquez brothers fighting.
Good weekend for true fight fans.

Doug, I like this fight. I think there will be plenty of action in it. I think Quartey will win the fight. I feel Forrest is overated and made a name for himself by beating Mosley twice in a bad style matchup for Shane. Forrest other then that stiff Mayorga has no one else on his resume that was any good! Quarty has fought very close battles with DeLahoya, Vargas when he had a clue, Vince Phillips and some others. Quarty has a solid defense, great jab and hits with authority. Forrest has a good jab as well and a nice straight right hand that has some pop to it. I see a unanimous DEC for Quartey! Lets hope they come to fight!

I have to say sometimes Boxing is completely full of sh**! I cannot believe that they gave the fight to Vernon Forrest when everyone including Emanual Steward, Harold Lederman, Larry Merchant and Jim Lampley all had it Unanimous for Ike Quartey! The Madison Square Garden fans were chanting BULLSH** in favor of Quartey! Quartey was the agressor the entire fight, had a connect percentage over 35% landed solid jabs and left hooks to Vernon's face the whole night! Forrest backpedeled the whole fight and did not celebrate after the final bell rang. His whole corner was glum as they new they lost the fight. Once again Boxing disgraces itself! When am I going to learn to simply turn off the TV!

I agree. Boxing has a real problem on its hands, and no one is stepping up to fix it.
Good call on Quartey though. I thought that Forrest would beat him, but he just stood right in front of him. Bad strategy.

Doug, I'll tell you one more thing about Kassim Ouma. If those moron announcers tell us one more time that Ouma throws 100 or more punches a round I'm going to smash the TV! They mention it 20 times every Ouma fight! He may throw a ton of punches but they are all Pattie Cake Pansy shots that would not crack an egg! It really looked like his shots would not back up a lightweight! I am not a fan of Ouma!

I hear you. Those types of fighters make for pretty boring fights, even though there are a lot of punches thrown.
