I thought about starting a poll, but figured I'd probably leave something really important out... so let's leave things open-ended...
In your opinion, what was the biggest story in US amateur wrestling in 2006?
Was it all the college coaching changes? Fresno State getting the ax? Churella getting Kesselled and/or Hendricks' antics afterward? Team USA's performance at the Worlds? The rise of WrestlingTalk as THE online wrestling forum?
Weigh in, please... Mark

Sgallan wins the First Annual Mat.com Weight Loss Challenge. Spider, the pre-contest favorite, fights his way back through the consi's to place a disappointing third.

The Iowa/Tom Brands/VT debacle... Brother Jensens, I wonder if we could include the Cael/Douglas Iowa St. element of that story too. It seemed to all be related and happened like a stack of dominos- Z fired->Bobby "resigning"-> Cael hired-> Brands resigning-> Brands hired-> VT wrestlers bail-> shit squarely hitting the fan!

If we're going to do that we might as well add in Hellickson getting bounced. The Ohio State job coming open is what kicked all the other teams into a scramble mode.

Joe Warren winning gold at the worlds in greco? When is the last time a US athlete -- other than hwt -- won the worlds in greco?
