Remember the buzz about Brock Lesnar? How amateur wrestling fans were amazed by the muscular Minnesotan's physique, including his 20" neck and 52" chest? Now, imagine how amazed fans would have been back in 1908, seeing a champion wrestler with the same neck and chest measurements... Meet George Hackenschmidt aka the Russian Lion. Today -- August 2 -- is Hack's birth date. (He would be 128 years old if still alive). To honor his birthday, I've added a dozen new photos of George Hackenschmidt in a BRAND-NEW photo album "Collectibles Rob England 2" at the Yahoo group Frank Gotch vs George Hackenschmidt! In addition, you'll find plenty more photos of the birthday boy Hack, including a couple in his birthday suit (classic Greek sculpture poses -- very tasteful)... along with bodybuilder and wrestler poses, and, of course, photos of his two title matches with Iowa farm boy Frank Gotch. (Their bouts in 1908 and 1911 were front-page news all over the world... and helped launch organized amateur wrestling in the US.) Hey Spider -
I know he was a bit big for you, but did you ever wrestle Hack? How did it go?

No, I would have had to come out of retirement. I decided to let the kids have their fun.
