I attended the DD Wrestling Classic yesterday. Many of us were wondering how Sanders (and I think one other USA wrestler) achieved 220+ wins. Can you compete on the h.s team in Minnesota PRIOR to the 9th grade? I think in some states you can. Or, did his team just wrestle a lot more matches? In PA, due to state rules, a kid could never get that many wins. Thanks for any info.

Yes, in Minnesota you can wrestle before 9th grade. Sanders is a 5x state champ.

Dolan is an animal, so I'm not surprised at the result. 3x AA champ in PA.

3X PA champ is equal to about 14 in Minnesota really? i might have some words for you on this subject...sanders is a light 119 lb'er and will most likely redshirt next year just to grow into the weight knowing that ness will be there for the gophers next year...give sanders a year of seasoning and put him back into the ring with dolan in 2009, you might be surprised at the results...kudos to dolan though as he did pound the snot out of sanders it sounded like from all the reports i heard...

Just playing goferfan, but Minnesota has lost some luster when 7th graders start winning state.
I saw Sanders at the NCAA's and he looked tiny. He will get on the Cal Dietz weight program and get huge like the rest of the Minnesota wrestlers.
