You posted info about catholic schools in Cleveland, on themat forums. Someone replied about the columbus catholic schools, and how it's hard to go to a different school outside of the feeder school you have attended. This is incorrect. I would posted on the other forum, but as you know, I have been banned. I lived in the DeSales district but went to Watterson. It's quite easy, and wanted that to be known. To further my point, at the bus stop, we had Desales kids and Watterson kids... getting on different buses of course.

Understood.
Didn't know you had been banned from the other site.
Were you able to go to Watterson because nobody checked or because there was no rule against it?

I understand that it happens, just not as much as in Cleveland. I lived in Arlington, which is Watterson area, but I got kinda recruited to go to Ready. There's no hard and fast rule against it that I know of, but Bishop Griffin frowned on the practice of kids going out of their parish area. However, with both Watterson and DeSales being on the north side. I'm sure there's more of it than in the case of a Hartley kid going to Watterson or a Ready kid going to DeSales and that kind of stuff.
BTW, big_ I'm that other poster aka snwbrdwint....btw, thanks for the info. As I didn't actually go to Catholic schools, I'm going by what I've been told by my friends who wrestled at the Catholic schools.

Understood. Didn't know you had been banned from the other site. Were you able to go to Watterson because nobody checked or because there was no rule against it? I went to St Michaels and our feeder school crossed districts. I lived near Westerville, but my dad knew the old baseball coach at Watterson and wanted to me to go there. He spoke with the principle to get me in for the entrance exams. I did have to get a waiver from the Bishop. Funny thing is my brother and sister went to DeSales. So they did check lkwdsteve. I think it's fairly easy to get a waiver, based on other examples and friends of mine that went to Watterson as well.

I wrestled a couple boys from Watterson that were pretty tough, Hockaday and Pannicea(sp). Wrestled Brian Haimerl from Ready at CIT's when I was a Frosh and he got me pretty good.
Come to think of it Steve, they do have Rasslin south of C-Town!!

You should read that post of mine over on themat, Kenny. I actually put a modicum of work (ie-research) into it.
I also complemented you in the Padua section and nobody objected.

Come to think of it Steve, they do have Rasslin south of C-Town!! I grew up with Brian Flanagan. He was runner up his senior year at states at the 152lb weight class. He went to Senior Nationals and took 5th. He said in the semi's he was up 9-2 and got stuck on a fluke pin. He said if he made it to the finals he would have been destroyed, by another Ohio guy. He went to Purdue and started his freshman year going .500. He blew out his knee and came back to Ohio State. I actually worked out with him a few times down there. His knee was never the same and he quit. I didn't wrestle, I played baseball and basketball. What does this have to do with anything... no clue.

I was responding to ken, and telling him about another Watterson wrestler I grew up with. Smite me for my worhtless ramblings.

Rambling about C-Bus is worth an exalt.

Beer with me Steve, I've had a few pops tonight. No really, thanks for the ink. That was some outstanding research you did on the Greater Cleveland Catholic high schools. Thinking of converting?? J/K. A lot of people don't realize how many good private schools are in NE Ohio, not just Ed's and Walsh. Thanks for puting that out there... By the by, I read in the PD today that everyone is getting a 2 pound weight allowance at sectionals, because of the weather and school closings; understandable. BUT, my gripe with that is, they are taking the 2 pound allowance away for Districts. That's jacked up IMO. I'm sure there will be a number of wrestlers that won't make weight for Disticts..

Upon further review....
Really getting into the history, using Osgood's book for much of the info, I find several inaccuracies in my original research. With some more time I will correct the record. I'm waiting until state is over, then I will post some historic trends by decade for the past 40 years. I never saw a number that I didn't consider "crunchy" afterall, but I'm not sure which forum to put the analysis on.
