LOL..... in some states, if you wrestle 103 for four years (rare but not unheard of) you could probably pick up almost a hundred wins in forfeits. The school I help at had a athletic and strong heavyweight that got more than 100 in two years. With the kids getting 50-65 matches a year, with many functionally athletic wrestlers starting from freshman on, they all get around 150 wins.

The 100 win plateau is not like it used to be. When kids can get 100 wins with only two years of varsity its too easy. 100 wins used to be something you had to wrestle varsity for four years and be good each year to accomplish.

NC career wins records: ncmat.com/etc/career_wins.htmlKids are getting 70 matches a year in North Carolina. State record for career wins is 241-6. I think it's getting out of hand, and from what I've seen, NC has the most lenient guidelines as far as matches allowed in a week. The rule is you can have two duals in a week, or one dual and a tournament. Well, what happened is everyone started having dual "tournaments" that go Friday-Saturday, wrestling 4 or 5 duals on Friday, 5 duals on Saturday. So kids can get 11 matches in one week. However, that will start changing.... now the dual tourneys are getting less popular because the process for qualifying for the dual team playoffs has changed. Now, your overall dual meet record is a factor, when previously all that mattered was your conference standing. So coaches are avoiding dual tournaments where they might get a loss and keep them out of the playoffs.

Dual meets vary in significance from state to state. In PA they are still a very big deal. They bring out the crowds in ways tournaments can't. I noticed that some states, the team aspect is not as emphasized.
The state Dual meet championships do add alot of matches that aren't counted in the match limits. Also lose your first match at the Beast or reno and wrestle back for 3rd or 4th and see how many matches you will wrestle. The Upper Perkiomen kids will probably have some guys with 60 or more matches. They went to beast, ironman reno, and will go deep in the state dual team championships. Zack Kemmerer may break the state record for wins this year (~170???)

Our state record for wins is 172, held by Jordan Sianni. I have no clue how many we've had hit the century mark.

Apple Valley's record for wins is 213 by none other than Charlie Falck...
No one has ever won more than 49 matches in one season however...they pace there kids pretty good so that they have something left at the end of the season...

Thats pretty impressive when you realize that four time state champion and four time All American Chad Erickson from Apple Valley only had 192 wins.
