Jensen-
I do agree. However, not full heartedly. I do take calibur of weight class into account. Like....if Cooperman was here this year, I'm pretty sure he would of crushed 141 (with Ware and Gallick out of the way).
174 this year was a joke. Keith Gavin a finalist? Nothing against Askren (he totally dominated), but still....I have more respect for Cliff Moore's national title (that was a weight class).

I disagree with ranking a wrestler only on the NCAA performance. I know it is what everyone remembers, but to be truly one of the best you need to perform all season long. I ma mostly thinking of Rosholt. The reason he was never seeded #1 was becasue he was never the best wrestler during the season. He performed big time at NCAAs, but was never dominant. I would put Hendricks on the list over him.
If Ware is on the list, Gallick deserves to be ahead of him. Gallick may not have less championships, but he was the better wrestler than Ware.

I'll toss Little Joe Dubuque's singlet into the frey here mainly on the competitiveness of the weight class he was in. 2X champeen, 3 time A-A that missed out his freshman year suffering a concussion before the Big Tens. 114-18 career record, but 57-4 his final two years I would not put Dubuque on the list, because he consistently lost to Simmons, and he never won the big ten.

Leaving Johnny Thompson off of the list is going to make Johnnythompsonnum1's head explode, which is going to cause quite a mess.

I tried not to base my list completely on the NCAAs. Some wrestlers like Dubuque, Ware and Bertin performed consistently better during the NCAA tournament than they did throughout their careers.
1. Cael Sanderson 2. Greg Jones 3. Chris Pendelton 4. Travis Lee 5. Ben Askren 6. Dustin Schlatter 7. Nate Gallick 8. Sam Hazewinkle 9. Teyon Ware 10.Joe Heskett

But part of the reason why 174 was a joke this year was because of Askren's dominance. Lots of people moved up or down because of him - some credit has to be given to Askren for that. Though I don't consider Askren one of the "greatest of all time." The Missouri GOAT - unquestionably. One of the GOATS of the young Big 12? Yes on that too. But I don't put him in same class as Gable or Sanderson.

I agree Abas, Mocco, and Konrad are clear top 10rs.
I also agree w/Blue Stater about the relative "weakness" of the weight classes. I've never bought into that argument. The same charge was often made about Cael but the fact is, he was so dominant he made other greats at his weight (e.g., Vertus Jones, Cormier, Trenge) look not so great, while others such as Vering (who Cael defeated while he was a freshman or soph) escaped to other weight classes and became champions. No one else could win while he was there.
