Against first guy, looked solid pretty much what was to be expected scored two takedowns and an escape and gave up only an escape.
Against Askren man gabe BROUGHT it, thats the best Ive seen him wrestle all year he had a nice ankle pick early in the first that tripped askren up and he had a VERY nice takedown attempt later on that askren was able to fight his way out of, I think against anyone else at 174 thats a takedown askren was just too hard to pin down.
Askren didnt look very impressive up until he shot that outside single and pinned dretsch with that weird figure four. (I know that sounds redundant like, "he'd have won the match if only he'd done better", but Askren wrestled most of the first two periods as badly as he did in the finals).

So getting three takedowns is the same as getting no takedowns? I like Gabe a lot (goferphan will tell you) but he was outclassed.
Had he not pinned, Askren probably would have picked up a few more takedowns, and won the match something like 11-5 or so. Gabe was able to stay with him, because like Gavin he's bigger and stronger than Askren, and he stayed heavy and hard on his head.

i give dretsch a bad rap but its just because i think if he "went for it" more his style would lend itself to more success...he usually wins the matches he should and up until askren, i hadn't seen him pinned but he NEVER pulls the upset and i know he has the talent to do so...most of them wouldn't even be considered upsets because i actually think on most days he belongs in the top ten, not the middle 11-15...
