Were there any wrestlers/teams wearing doublets at NCAAs?
I was really worried there last year that wrestlers will start wearing dresses.

Not a single one (no pun intended) to be seen. Guess that was a short lived fad idea.

Big, I was wondering the same thing. Thanks for asking... and thanks to the Professor and DartShark for answering.
I found the "doublets" to be kinda strange... but maybe it's fear of change on my part. I can imagine that singlets might have looked strange 35 years to fans who were accustomed to the separate trunks/tights/sleeveless shirt look that prevailed up into the early to mid 70s (except at schools whose wrestlers competed in tights and trunks, stripped to the waist, which was allowed by the NCAA up to the mid 60s.)
I suppose the doublets might have been the Nehru jacket of amateur wrestling. Wonder why they were gone so quickly? Did wrestlers complain about them RE comfort?

The Nehru jacket is an article of clothing based on the Indian sherwani. It became popular in the West in the 1960s. It is modelled after the sherwanis preferred by the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. While a sherwani typically reaches to the knees, the Nehru jacket is cut off at around hip height or upper leg, like a standard Western suit jacket.
The distinctive feature of the jacket is its stand-up collar. Its popularity in 1960s was buoyed by both the growing awareness of ethnic diversity and the minimalism of the Mod lifestyle, and particularly by the Beatles, who wore the jackets during their 1968 trip to India.
