I read Intermat's article on the lawsuit filed by Equity in Athletics against the Department of Education. It arose out of the cuts anounced by JMU.
After I read it I went to themat.com b/c I remebered they had a forum for title IX and there was a lawyer guy who always posted updates and articles on the site. Well, there was no mention of the lawsuit, and no postings from the guy (whose handle escapes me but I would remember it if I saw it) on the Title IX board.
In fact, there were only 9 topics in that forum and a topic in which the last post was on January 21, 2007 was still on the front page.
1. What happened to that guy who carried the banner for wrestling in the Title IX enforcement fight. Was he a casualty of the forum exodus.
2. Does anyone care anymore to fight, or have we collectively given up. Is USA Wrestling still involved in in the fight or are there politics that prevents it.
Everyone bemoans the announcements of another program cut but all seems pretty quiet on the battle front.

I used to post frequently on the title ix forum but got tired of repeating the same thing and getting into pissing matches with apologists for the quota advocates or those who are so blinded by their political bent that they can't see what the real issue is. Also those that accept the WSF's dodges about football being the problem, or money, or any number of other excuses that detract from the real issue, which is the application of a gender quota.
If USA Wrestling had a lick of sense they would simply create a FAQ page regarding title ix so that those that stumble upon it every couple of years can have these questions answered.
The "lawyer guy" you may be referring to is "DAA" who is Dale Anderson, two time NCAA champ at Michigan State and one who has fought gender quotas longer than about anyone. But he got sick and tired of the same things I did, but at a much higher level.
I still help a bit with the good folk at the College Sports Council. The CSC is behind the lawsuit against JMU. With Larry Joseph on the team it is in good hands. I battled for well over a decade to keep wrestling alive at my alma mater. Now that we are reasonably secure (at least until another AD arrives) it's time for others to step up. Funny thing is, nobody does. They gnash their teeth and flail their chests when another program gets cut, but leave it to someone else to do the heavy lifting.

Terp, Wondering where BDD67 went. I remember he called me once when I was in college, he used to post tons and tons of Title IX stuff out there.
