I just got done watching his matches up to his upset in the semis and I had a few comments.
Schlatter Vs Buroughs typical schlatter match gets the td and plays defense for the rest of the match not very impressive but one thing that amazed me is how ENORMOUS burroughs looked. How on earth does this kid make 149? His hips were literally at ds's chest, and he wasnt a toothpick either. Id be astounded if he makes 149 next year, maybe hes skinnier then he looks I dont know...
Schlatter VS blank
Ds looked better this match a lot more active and agressive and the first takedown was entirely iniated by him and it wasnt a duck which impressed me. Solid win for Dustin.
Schlater Vs Turner
Ds looked real tough for most of the match but he was positively running from turner for the last minute. It looked like he hurt his knee here Im amazed the ref didnt call PD there was no sound but I could literally see him screaming in pain on one of turners td attempts. Great match wrestled by turner he came to wrestle and ended up a little short almost tied it up towards the end.
Schlatter Vs GG
What a horrible job officiating this match, Id heard people talk as if GG earned this but I was thouroughly unconvinced. After a very impressive looking takedown he pretty much ran a backwards marathon for the next 6 minutes and got dinged ONCE (unless he got dinged at the end where he was literally RUNNING the opposite direction) for stalling. I guess respect GG for doing what it takes to win and he did pretty much admit to stalling out on his post-match interview, so I have to give him credit for that.
I was rooting for GG to win it and I still would have even if Id seen this match because he just seems like a good kid, Im not angry at him for this Im angry at the official for not making him wrestle.
I know a bunch of people are going to chime in saying ds does the same thing, score some points and shut his opponent down, but theres a difference between shutting your opponent down and running away from him. Im going to rewatch this so I can count the amount of times GG backed out of the circle in the last two periods.
