What was your favorite moment of the championships? Here are mine: - Matt Pell's final pin to win third, and the Missouri Tigers taking the stage after winning third. Matt was definitely saving the best for last this year, and it was fantastic. - Moore winning OW, and his mom going crazy (and kissing me and my friend) after the announcement. - Doug Schwab jumping ten feet in the air when Perry won - The kid from Sacred Heart getting a standing O after making AA. - The Lang quarterfinal match getting a standing O because it was just that darn good. - Hendricks being incredibly gracious in defeat. - Ben Askren being Ben Askren.

1. Hendricks getting beat. 2. Moore dismantling Lang 3. Konrad finishing off his career with a dominating finals over Anspach 4. Valenti proving to us all that his first title was NOT a fluke 5. Iowa State coming on STRONG at the end and making it a memorable tournament. 6. Nobody having to wear poop in their pants because Craig did not AA as expected. 7. Iowa not mattering this year. 8. Missouri becoming a real player in the upper echelon wrestling world and making teams like Iowa State and Minnesota have to be on their game. 9. DS getting beaten to take the monkey off of his back. I look to see a more aggressive DS next year. 10. The Misadventures stories from this year.
Great year all, I WILL see you in St. Louis next year.

1. Perry winning 2. Lang-Caldwell match 3. a kid from NC that I've known for a long time qualified and won a match out there as a freshman. Nothing "major" in the overall scheme of things but it was big for me

Watching Troy, JP and Eric Decker (VTech) all wrestle together at the big show. They all were charter members of my club 11 years ago. Put a ton of miles on the car with their parents all over the North east and later, the US.
Decker pulled off a huge upset to qualify at the ACC. I knew eventually they'd all be at the NCAA together, but didn't think it would be as true freshman and a true sophomore.
As an added bonus, two were AA's
Josh Patterson qualified from a recently revamped Binghamton University program
The CAA had 7 AA's
and Josh Glenn (another local guy) won it all!!!!!

- Askren coming out for the finals march wearing the patent leather dress shoes (anyone else catch that?), and Pell wearing moccasins.
- Seeing the reaction by R. Churella across the way as Perry gets the 2NF.
- Seeing the way the Missouri wrestlers would go up and mingle with their faithful after their matches. Class.
- Cael's low profile demeanor next to Hartung's energy, and the performance by ISUs wrestlers.
- Tsirtsis - Moyer
- Zarrinpour and how everyone was pulling for him.
- Donahoe's performance. Can't say enough.
- 100 seconds between Lang and Caldwell

I'm with a few others with the Caldwell v. Lang match! That is what wrestling is all about.
My favorite thing about this tournament was the "hang out" and wrestle defense method didn't work so well. The guys pushing the offense prevailed!

Not sounding like a Gopher "homer" (though I tend to be), I think Hartung has done great things alongside Cael. Two different demeanors that work well together. There is that famous Brands quote about Hartung having Perry for two years and they are still working out the kinks. While a championship by Perry somewhat validates that....Varner and Backes did well under Tim and Cael's tutulage.

What did Churella do during the 165 finals? A lotta fist pumping and a dash from his seat to the aisle and up a couple steps, with a Schwab-like leap as time ran down.

I saw the fianls on TV and I flet that one of the most dramatic and "best" in a tragic way was the shot of Ryan Lang's kid brother Troy being devasted by Ryan's loss. TO me it depicted the sacrifices that only wrestlers truly know about and the bond that exists between brothers.
