Got majored by Haze and then got beat by Escobedo, whom Nickerson taught a lesson twice!

Season means nothing. Ten years from now no one is going to remember what Donahoe did during the season.

nor will they remember a still slightly chubby faced wrestler named Troy Nickerson except for his highschool exploits...
you are right about donahoe though, they will not remember his regular season, they will remember the way that he rose to the occasion in 2007 and won the 125 lb title...manned up and took it away from everyone else...

Got majored by Haze and then got beat by Escobedo, whom Nickerson taught a lesson twice! Ness is a Big Ten champ, and an AA and had a freshman great season. He was outhorsed by Hazewinkle. He did so well during the season that unrealistic expectations were set. Was it even clear at the beginning of the season that he would start?

Big, I would have to disagree. Ness placed 1 spot lower than his seed, which is not that uncommon. Now if he would have gotten eliminated from the tourney, then your statement would have some merit.
If you say Ness chocked, then you'd have to put your boy in that category also, even though I wouldn't, just a tough call!

Except some very respectable posters on here argued day in and day out how Ness deserved #2 seed. Nickerson ran into an unexpectedly good Donahoe. That's diifferent, although I think Nick choked just a little as well.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With Haze as the #1 seed and with Ness as the #2 seed then Nickerson as the #3 seed will surely be beaten in the semi's and then take out his frustration for third place on someone... Link to Post - Back to Top Logged
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Big thinks I'm cool. I don't know if I like the thought of that.

Ness choked for those that overhyped him. How about that?

Ouch - odh, you're on to something there. Ness didn't choke. He excelled all season long - past most everyone's expectations. He wasn't the MVP, but he was the "difference-maker" on the team - both in duals and in the tournament.

Nickerson, Ness and Gomez are the future of lightweights, IMO.

Weight has a great group of young guys in there. Nickerson, Ness, Gomez, Escobedo, and Falck, not to mention our now reigning champion Paul Donahoe who is only a redshirt soph.
