By out performing Penn State and Lehigh, Edinboro shows that multi-million dollar facilities are no substitute for hard work.
Chalk one up for the underdogs.

Second year in a row they've done it too, coach Flynn has some great things going on up there.

Congrats to Flynnie...he's doing a great job! Remember, they are not recruiting against each other in most cases, as entrance requirements are quite different(wouldn't think a PA person would have to be reminded of that). Having a senior in HS brings this to the forefront. That being said, it is great that there are so many places where a kid can go to school and be successful on the mat and hopefully in the future.

Ok, without checking, isn't that the Granite State??? Makes total sense for tough minded wrestlers!

Yes, the nickname is the Granite State. As with the rest of New England there is very little national wrestling tradition in NH. Penn States, Eric Bradley was the first AA ever for NH. This year Matt Stolpinski, a Mass native who wrestled at a private HS in NH got 4th and Endiboro's Heavy Fendone, a NH native who wrestled for a private HS school in Mass made round of 12. He was 197 last year and is a sophomore, so he has unlimited potential and with Heavy weight being "thin" next year, who knows how high he could go.

I watched the video about Edinboro on Flowrestling and thought it was great.

^^^Edinboro - Tim Flynn, Cliff Moore, Bruce Baumgartner - incredible!
By the way, there was an ESPN mention of the Paulson Family raising quarter horses in western Iowa. Big deal - the Stolpinskis raise alpacas in western Massachusettes. -Stove Pipe

Hats of the Edinboro crew for another great performance. As an alumni it is great to see them have such success. Watching Gregor beat Schlatter (which I have been saying was going to happen since last year) and then in the finals against Churella was just great. Also pushing another top 10 finish is huge for them. So they now have 3 NCAA DI Champs.

Maybe now some of the Ohio/PA talent will go somewhere in PA other than Penn State and Lehigh.

There are 16 D-1 programs in PA alone and every major wrestling school recruits in the Keystone and Buckeye states. With only 2+ scholarships available/year/school, what could you possibly be trying to say?

There are 16 D-1 programs in PA alone and every major wrestling school recruits in the Keystone and Buckeye states. With only 2+ scholarships available/year/school, what could you possibly be trying to say? P State, Lehigh, and Edinboro only offer two scholarships per year? Why can't they offer more? Does it have something to do with Title IX? How does that compare to the top five or six schools? My basic point is that it would be nice if the PA talent remained in PA. I realize that Penn State sucks up the majority of the talent, but it would be nice if another school was able to build organically (locally).

I had forgotten that Moore was there, until I saw him in Gillespie's corner during the finals. Think he might have had a little bit of an effect?

They can't offer more, because no one can...9.9 scholarships at any one time, or less than 2.5/year. As for sucking up most of the talent, I don't know where that idea comes from. One kid on the Dapper Dan team from PA is going to PSU...Tim Darling. One kid from the Ohio team on the undercard...Cameron Wade. They got a 3X champ from NJ...Frank Molinaro, and a 3X champ from Blair...Jared Platt. There are other walkons but, as you can see, plenty of talent to go around.
