Trusty, did you actually make the weight +5? Just curious how seriously the competitors take it. I wouldn't imagine there is alot of free time that weekend for sucking the last few pounds. Did they tell you "make the weight or else", or "do your best to make the weight but get as close as you can" For us not on the PA team, yes ...I had to cut my ars off! They made me come back even when I was a 1/4 over.

Trusty, what year were you in the DD? 1989 Cool, I think I was there in 89. I went to quite a few of them in the 80's.

is it just me or does 293-11 seem like too many damn matches for someone to be wrestling in highschool...sanders wrestled since 7th grade and still only won 223 versus five losses, this poor bastard out of texas wrestled 76 more matces than that...

Kid in North Carolina went 91-0 this year. Finished with a 4 year career record of 284-6. I think NC has the most lenient rules regarding number of competitions in the country. The "rule" is that you can wrestle two duals in a week, or one dual and one "tournament." What's happened is the dual team "tournament" where you can get 10 matches - 5 on Friday, 5 on Saturday, so kids can get as many as 11 matches per week. This particular wrestler's team wrestled in dual tournaments every weekend during the regular season except for 2, I think, and most of their wrestlers had 80-90 matches. Has not been updated yet for this season but here is the career wins list for NC ncmat.com/etc/career_wins.htmlThe NCHSAA is looking into changing this rule. I can see both sides. NC has a ways to go to improve the level of wrestling, so I appreciate when coaches try to build their schedule to find better competition. But there's a line between seeking out the biggest & toughest tournaments vs "padding" your schedule to try to boost your numbers.

of course... keep in mind too that it's not like someone in a top level wrestling state having that many matches... obviously everything is relative but it's not quite the same as wrestling 80 matches against the competition you see in PA, OH, NJ, etc.

Trusty, what year were you in the DD? 1989 Doesn't look like Recker had much for you. I'd say that you wrecked him, but I'd probably get booed out of here.
